Benjamin Appl performed at the Wigmore Hall on the 1st of February 2020 in a concert also featuring soprano Fatma Said, mezzo-soprano Catriona Morison, tenor Alessandro Fisher, clarinetists Katherine Spencer, violaist Eivind Ringstad and pianist Joseph Middleton.
He performed the role of Guiglielmo in Mozart's Così fan tutte with The Mozartists on the 6th of November 2019 at the Cadogan Hall.
And he sang Schumann's Wer sich der Einsamkeit ergibt, Wer nie sein Brot mit Tränen ass and An die Türen will ich schleichen from Lieder und Gesänge aus Wilhelm Meister Op. 98a and Mendelssohn's An die Entfernte Op. 71 No. 3, Schilflied Op. 71 No. 4 and Frühlingslied Op. 47 No. 3 and Zelter's Einsamkeit (Harfenspieler I), Harfenspieler II and Klage on the 16th of September 2019 with Kristian Bezuidenhout on the fortepiano at the Wigmore Hall.
His 1st solo album 'Heimat' won the Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau Best Lieder Singer award at the Académie du Disque Lyrique Orphées d’Or in 2018.
He became the Gramophone Young Artist of the Year in 2016.
Mr. Appl performed in Orff's Carmina burana together with the BBC Concert Orchestra, conductor Keith Lockhart, the Southend Boys’ Choir, the Southend Girls’ Choir, the BBC Symphony Chorus and the London Philharmonic Choir in the Royal Albert Hall on the 6th of September 2015.
Mr Appl made his BBC Proms debut on the 1st of September 2015 in a concert with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
Mr. Appl was a BBC New Generation Artist between 2014 and 2016.
He graduated from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.
