Bernard Haitink conducted the RCM Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Strauss' Alpine Symphony on the 1st of February 2018 at the Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall.

Mr. Haitink became Honorary Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1977.

Mr. Haitink conducted the London Symphony Orchestra, London Symphony Chorus (women's voices), Tiffin Boys' Choir and Sarah Connolly on the 29th of July 2016 in a performance of Mahler's Symphony No. 3 in D minor at the Barbican Hall.

Bernard Haitink's Haitink became principal conductor of the Concertgebouw Orchestra in September 1959, three years after his debut with the orchestra.

Mr. Haitink performed with Maria Joao Pires on the 28th of August 2015.

Bernard Haitink's first concert as conductor was in July 1954 with the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic for whom he became second conductor in 1955 and principal conductor in 1957.

He was born in Amsterdam on the 4th of March 1929.

He also conducted the same orchestra on the 6th of September in a performance of Schubert's Symphony No 9 in C major and the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Proms on the 25th of July in a performance of Mahler's Resurrection Symphony.

He made his BBC Proms debut conducting the BBC Symphony Orchestra on the 22nd of August 1966 in a performance of Bruckner's Symphony No 7 in E major.
